TalkBack is a screen reader that provides spoken feedback when using native Android applications.
In the accessibility section of the settings on your smartphone, there is no one default. The easiest is to download this app, which reads aloud the various options that may arise on the screen. It doesn't read internet pages nor anything beyond your own phone's system menus and screens. The only and big exception are native applications, basically, Google apps. For example, when you start Gmail, Talkback reads the subject of each mail you tap; when you push any hardware button, it says which has been pushed.
We don't know how much useful this app can be to a blind person, or what's its actual usefulness anyway. What we can assure is that canned voice, even being well achieved, is quite annoying "Option, settings, accessibility"
If we've given it five stars is because we haven't found anything better app of this kind and it's a good start, a good preview of what lies ahead. We encourage Eyes-Free Project to carry on this way.
